Butterfly (Main)
Album: Roots Folk 2 by Ian Roland & The Subtown SetLyrics
Saw a butterfly touch a buddleia
Held our breath and didn’t stir
A tear rolled down your cheek but we
Didn’t dare to blink
In case it flew away
As the sun burnt red across the sky
I lifted you up on my shoulders high
Oak and ash and elm and fir
Crystal clear just who we were
I remember climbing trees
You could taste that woodland breeze
The energy ran free
It leapt right out of me
In to my world
As the sun burnt red across the sky
Simply being forgot the time
Ancient faces in the trees
Making so much sense out of you and me
Breath hung like clouds in the air
Surrounding butterfly still sitting there
Tears fell on the ground
But we didn’t make a sound
In case it flew away
