We were so excited that our first event as sponsor for The Guild of Music Supervisors (GMS) was their 3rd Annual Emmy Celebration at The Paley Center in Beverly Hills last week! The GMS, whose collective goal is to “take a leadership position with one galvanized voice in the entertainment industry and act as a valuable, highly specialized resource to further the understanding of the constant evolution of music in media,” supports and recognizes the craft and importance of Music Supervision in Film and Television. Its emphasis: supporting and educating its peers, fostering industry recognition and supporting philanthropic efforts related to music and the arts.
Thomas Golubić (Music Supervisor, Breaking Bad), Micki Peel (Music Supervisor, Warner/Chappell Production Music) and Vince Gilligan (Creator, Breaking Bad)
This year’s Emmy Celebration started with a welcome from founding President, Music Supervisor extraordinaire Maureen Crowe, followed by opening remarks by Chop Shop Music Supervision’s founder, Alexandra Patsavas. Directly following were two fantastic panels.
The first was SMASH Season 2, moderated by GMS award-winning Music Supervisor Gary Calamar, featuring showrunner Josh Safran along with Music Supervisors Jen Ross and Jojo Villanueva from Format Entertainment and composer Andrew McMahon. Next up was Breaking Bad moderated by GMS award-winning Music Supervisor Manish Raval, featuring series creator Vince Gilligan along with GMS award-winning Music Supervisor Thomas Golubić and composer Dave Porter. (CONGRATS to Breaking Bad on their Emmy win!!)
It was a great night and a pleasure to hear about their process, learn what is unique to their shows and gain insight to the game-changing role they played in creating an unforgettable story for the small screen.
We are thrilled to support GMS in their endeavors and achievements and celebrate with them their craft, creativity and future efforts.
