Special Request Library – NW Hip-Hop

The Northwest portion of the United States has been home to numerous artists and genres in music from jazz to Jimi Hendrix to grunge…and now it’s time for hip-hop to have its day in the sun…well, maybe the rain. You get what we’re going for. Due to the demand of this exploding musical genre, our Special Request Library catalog has hit the underground clubs mining all the best talent that Northwest hip-hop has to offer and has put together the appropriately titled “NW Hip-Hop” disc.

Check out the video for “Regular Guy.”

Composed by childhood friends Matt Morris and Ben Worley, these two MC’s holed up in our Nashville studios and delivered a smart, indie hip-hop disc that completely mirrors the current movement in the Northwest hip hop game! Aaron Gant, VP Production, said “Working on this project with Ben and Matt has been very exciting. They are super talented writers and performers and I’m thrilled to have their music available to everyone.” Matt reflects on the production process by adding, “Aaron made the recording process so easy. He was so accommodating in helping to keep our sound authentic. It feels great to have our music appreciated.”

It was important to Matt and Ben to get an organic sound with real instruments, so they decided to use as many unique elements as they possibly could. You can hear a children’s choir and even some ukulele! Can you name a hip-hop track that uses a ukulele? Didn’t think so. This disc has so much variety; it’s perfect for any project from trailers to advertising campaigns to promos!
